WHO WE ARE

Built for the people who build houses.

Rift & Quarter supplies fully custom cabinetry to builders, architects, and designers across Central Virginia.

Our founder is an experienced kitchen designer and a Class A general contractor. Drawings, pricing, field verification, delivery, and installation are handled by one company, from first sketch to punch list.

HOW WE START

Bring a design, or bring us the space.

If you have a design: We detail it and build to it. Shop drawings for your approval, conflicts flagged in writing, and nothing released until you have signed the set. You are the designer. We produce your drawings.

If you don’t: We'll design the cabinetry — layout, storage planning, elevations, and finish direction, developed with you and your client. Cabinetry and millwork only. We don't take on the room.

Either way, it is your project and your client.

The shop

A trade learned the way trades used to be learned.

Every cabinet we draw is built in Holmes County, Ohio, by Amish and Mennonite craftsmen.

Holmes County holds the largest Amish settlement in the world, and cabinetmaking there is generational work — sons learning from fathers, in a trade passed down longer than most furniture brands have existed.

The shop runs a staff of 150 across more than 100,000 square feet. That is ten to twenty times the size of a typical custom cabinet shop, and it is why our lead times hold when a larger job comes in behind yours.

Everything is blanket-wrapped and delivered to Virginia by our own team — no freight carrier, no terminal, no third party handling your cabinetry. We inspect it before it reaches your site, and we can hold a completed order in climate-controlled storage for up to two months if the job moves.

Every cabinet is built to the drawing.

The cabinetry

Nothing comes from a book.

If the run needs a 313⁄4-inch base to make the sightline work, that is what gets built. No standard sizes to design around, no program limits, no fixed door list.

drawn, rendered, built

You approve a drawing. What arrives is that drawing.

Plans, elevations, and sections for every cabinet in the project — not a quote with cabinet codes and a note that says custom. Nothing is released to the shop until you have signed the set.

why us

What you get here that you won't get elsewhere.

We work only with builders, architects, and designers

No retail counter, no homeowner walk-ins competing for our attention. Every hour goes to trade projects, and you are never waiting behind a consumer sale.

Shop drawings on every project, for your approval

Plans, elevations, and sections detailing every cabinet before anything is cut. Most suppliers send back a quote with cabinet codes and interpret the rest themselves. You approve ours in writing, and conflicts surface there rather than on delivery day.

Full-size door samples and color chips before you commit

Your client approves an actual door in the actual finish, not a two-inch corner sample. What they approve is what arrives.

A shop of 150 craftsmen behind every order

Most custom shops run five to fifteen people and book out months ahead. Ours does not bottleneck, and several of your projects can run at once.

Six to eight weeks, guaranteed from drawing approval

Not an estimate. A date you can put in your schedule and quote to a client. [If we miss it — remedy.]

Interiors fitted at the shop, not on your site

Hardwood organizers, glass, metal mesh, and custom panels are specified in the drawings and built into the cabinet before it ships. Nobody is drilling roll-outs into a finished box in your client's kitchen.

We hold your cabinetry when the schedule slips

Climate-controlled storage for up to two months at no charge. Drywall runs late, the floor isn't down, the client changes the counter — your cabinets wait with us instead of stacking in a garage or a wrapped pile on site.

The same person on your job from drawing to punch list

No handoff between a salesperson, a drafter, and an installation crew you have never met. One number to call, and the person who answers it measured your field.
